In a nutshell, Maple Alley focuses on new ventures, whether it's a brand new company or business concept, or a new product, market or service offering for an existing business. The questions that must be explored are the same for either scenario. How big is the market? Is it a growing market? What significant trends are taking place that will impact my ability to sell my product or service? Who are the primary competitors and what are they doing? And the list goes on.

Maple Alley uses a variety of research tools to help answer these questions. Without getting into too much boring lingo, there are two main types of market research - primary and secondary. Primary research involves direct contact with individuals. It might mean conducting a focus group or a survey, interviewing industry experts or potential customers, or gaining customer feedback. Secondary research comes from secondary sources, such as the Internet, library references, or newspapers and trade publications, to name a few.
